The Benevolent Humming Bird Cone Mules Women

Embroidered mules with a hummingbird worked by hand across the vamp, wings spread and bill entering an open flower, standing raised above the satin beneath it. Ladies mules cut backless on a long pointed toe, coral leather lined, with one aged gold stud on each outer quarter and a blind embossed crest at the heel seat.

The bird and the bloom are one element, not two. The hummingbird is worked in strict profile facing the toe, wings spread, tail thrown back toward the topline, and its long bill runs straight into the throat of the flower so the two interlock across the vamp. Everything under it is printed chevron; everything on top of it is stitched by hand, and it stands proud enough to catch its own shadow. Handcrafted in India, made to order.

• Upper: printed silk satin in teal with an ivory chevron repeat running across the foot, over the whole vamp, toe, quarters and topline
• Hand embroidery filling the vamp and running forward onto the pointed toe: one hummingbird per shoe in flight, bill entering a large open bloom, with two lance shaped leaves on a curling stem below
• Worked in satin stitch and long and short shading, in ivory, tan and golden brown through the wings, crimson at the breast, sage and olive across the head and back, dark bottle green in the leaves and magenta at the petal edges
• The embroidery is raised above the fabric, not flush, with the petals and breast standing highest
• Backless mule, slip-on with no lace, buckle, strap or elastic

Care: Brush the embroidery gently along the direction of the thread with a soft dry brush. Keep the satin away from moisture, do not machine wash, and store in a cool, dry place.
