The Precious Pomegranate Cone Mules Women

Flat womens shoes in printed satin with a pomegranate branch worked diagonally across the vamp, the split fruit filled with real beads rather than stitched so the seed bed sits proud of the cloth. Ladies mules cut backless on a long pointed toe, designer flats for women over a coral leather lining, with one aged gold stud on each outer quarter.

A pomegranate opens rather than ripens, and the embroidery treats it that way. The branch enters at the topline near the throat, crosses the vamp on the diagonal and ends toward the toe, and where the fruit splits the thread stops and beadwork takes over. It is the only pair in the collection carrying beads, and the only place they appear is inside that opened fruit. Handcrafted in India, made to order.

• Upper: printed silk satin in royal blue with a pale ice-white chevron repeat, over the whole vamp, toe, quarters and topline
• Hand embroidery running diagonally across the vamp: one fruiting pomegranate branch per shoe, entering at the topline near the throat and finishing toward the pointed toe, with leaves and a curling stem
• Red beadwork filling the seed bed of the split fruit, the only beading in the collection, sitting raised above the surrounding satin
• Worked in satin stitch and long and short shading, the embroidery standing raised above the fabric rather than flush
• Backless mule, slip-on with no lace, buckle, strap or elastic

Care: Brush the embroidery gently along the direction of the thread with a soft dry brush. Take care around the beadwork. Keep the satin away from moisture, do not machine wash, and store in a cool, dry place.
